Novikov ’ s Inversion Formula for the Attenuated Radon Transform — A New Approach

چکیده
We study the inversion of weighted Radon transforms in two dimensions,Rρf (L) = ∫ L f (·) ρ(L, ·) ds, where the weight function ρ(L, x), L a line and x ∈ L, has a special form. It was an important breakthrough when R.G. Novikov recently gave an explicit formula for the inverse of Rρ when ρ has the form (1.2); in this case Rρ is called the attenuated Radon transform. Here we prove similar results for a somewhat larger class of ρ using completely different and quite elementary methods.

A new SPECT reconstruction algorithm based on the Novikov explicit inversion formula
We present a new reconstruction algorithm for single-photon emission computed tomography. The algorithm is based on the Novikov explicit inversion formula for the attenuated Radon transform with non-uniform attenuation. Our reconstruction technique can be viewed as a generalization of both the filtered backprojection algorithm and the Tretiak–Metz algorithm. We test the performance of the prese...
متن کاملAn Analytical Inversion of the Nonuniformly Attenuated Radon Transform With Variable Focal-Length Fan-Beam Collimators
Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) is based on the measurement of radiation emitted by a radiotracer injected into the patient. Because of photoelectric absorption and Compton scatter, the gamma photons are attenuated inside the body before arriving at the detector. A quantitative reconstruction must consider the attenuation, which is usually nonuniform. Novikov has derived an e...
متن کاملAn alternative proof of Bukhgeim and Kazantsev's inversion formula for attenuated fan-beam projections.
An inversion formula was developed by Bukhgeim and Kazantsev for attenuated fan-beam projections [Russian Academy of Science Siberian Branch: The Sobolev Institute of Mathematics (2002)]. The inversion formula was obtained by relating the attenuated fan-beam projections to unattenuated fan-beam projections and by trickily processing the unattenuated fan-beam projections. We show in this paper t...
متن کاملSPECT Reconstruction Using the Expectation Maximization Algorithm and an Exact Inversion Formula
We develop the theory behind the Expectation Maximization algorithm and an exact inversion formula for the attenuated Radon transform, two reconstruction methods used in SPECT. We also implement both methods and present a few numerical experiments.
متن کاملAnalytical Solution to 3D SPECT Reconstruction with Non-uniform Attenuation, Scatter, and Spatially-variant Resolution Variation for Variable Focal-length Fan-beam Collimators
In the past decades, analytical (non-iterative) methods have been extensively investigated and developed for the reconstruction of three-dimensional (3D) single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). However, it becomes possible only recently when the exact analytic non-uniform attenuation reconstruction algorithm was derived. Based on the explicit inversion formula for the attenuated Rad...
